The Factory was established in 1968 and is now a member under Vietnam National
Tobacco Corporation. During this period, especially the 70’s, the
factory contributed a lot to the economic development of Bac Ninh
province and to the industry.
Under the new open-door policy of
the government, the factory has put in a lot of investments to upgrade
its machinery and equipment by installing two new hardpack filter
make/pack lines from U.K.
and Germany
.
From purely a plain cigarette
manufacturer , the factory now produces mainly filter cigarettes with
low nicotine and tar content and over the last few years with support
from Tobacco Associates (USA) has launched some brands using American
tobacco of which AROMA stands out with volume reaching 30 mln packs in
2003. To further meet market demand, the factory now plans to launch
another brand SUNBIRD using American tobacco .
The factory is one of the leading
enterprises in Bac Ninh province ,paying from 11.6 bln dong in 1992 to
102 bln dong in 2003 to the state revenues , and making 5-6 bin dong
profits.
Workers make from 1.7 to 1.89 mln
wages average a month.
