VINATABA: Outstandingly fulfilled production and business plan in 2021 and heading for 2022

Activities News 31/12/2021

In 2021, the production and operation of Vinataba and the whole tobacco industry were heavily impacted by the Covid 19 epidemic. Along with businesses of other industries, Vinataba had to take options of “3 on-site”, “two-destinies” or stop production according to the actual situation in each locality, thereby affecting production capacity and incurring additional costs. Prices of some input materials for production surged up due to scarce supply, domestic and international logistics facing challenges.

However, by synchronously implementing solutions from the beginning of the year to stabilize production and operations, Vinataba is proud to have exceeded the set targets and continues to be the leading business in the entire tobacco industry:

– The total volume of the consumed cigarettes exceeded 6% as planned

– The market share accounted for about 64.4% of the industry’s output.

– Total revenue reached over VND24,000 billion, exceeding 8% as planned

– Budget contribution reached over VND 12,000 billion, exceeding 9% as planned plan

In regard to agronomy, the growing area of the 2021 crop also increased by 8% compared to the same period last year, ending the continuous decline for a long time. Tobacco purchasing volume increased by 21%; processing output increased by 46%.

Goals for 2022

It is forecasted that in 2022, the Covid-19 epidemic is still complicated with new variants of Coronavirus occurring in export markets (Asia, Middle East, Africa…); increasingly strict import policies of countries around the world to be applicable in the world, especially in Southeast Asia – the major export market of Vinataba. In spite of all the above challenges, we have aggressively set up a general goal for 2022:

  • To perform the dual task of preventing the Covid-19 epidemic, promoting production and business development, and ensuring stable livings and workings of employees.
  • To do well in the management, use, preservation, and development of capital; improve the operational efficiency of the affiliates.
  • To play a pivotal role in the tobacco industry by stabilizing the consumption market, maintaining the domestic tobacco market share, and transforming the product structure in line with consumption trends.
  • To focus on implementing development orientation of the tobacco industry of the State, taking the lead in formulating mechanisms and policies, creating conditions for the stable
  • operation of the industry; to cooperate in investment in the production of tobacco in replacement of illicit cigarettes and in research for new generation cigarettes.
  • To keep on strengthening and maintaining the growing area of domestic tobacco, in connection with research on the use of domestic tobacco materials to gradually replace the imported ones in the context of the growing challenges of the supplying channels due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
