On April 4, Vietnam National Tobacco Corporation (Vinataba) hosted a ceremony to receive the Third-class Labor Medal and celebrated its 40th anniversary (April 5, 1985 – April 5, 2025). Attendees at this special event were Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh – Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee; Mr. Le Quoc Minh – Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Mr. Nguyen Long Hai – Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc – Deputy Minister of Finance, and representatives of leaders of Ministries, Departments, business partners, customers, etc.
The tobacco industry of Viet Nam was formed in times of difficulties, closely associated with the process of building and developing the country’s economy. “It can be said that this milestone marks four decades of proud achievements. We have made great strides in organizational business models, attitudes and awareness, science and technology, market and competitive thinking and growth quality. These efforts have positioned us and our reputation in the industry, typically in Viet Nam as well as in the region as it is today,” said Vinataba Chairman of the Members’ Council, Mr. Ho Le Nghia, at the Ceremony.
Reporting on the achievements of Vinataba over the past 40 years, Mr. Ha Quang Hoa, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Director said: “During 40 year of incorporation and development, positioned in a backward starting point, Vinataba has often faced with potential challenges. Requirement for a creative and proactive mindset was vital for innovation process… Today, when looking back on our plans, we take pride in our business performances: From Vietnam Tobacco Union in the past hit by shortage of raw materials, machinery and equipment…, it has now been developed into a strong State Corporation, playing a core role in the tobacco industry of Viet Nam. Vinataba has promoted exports to most market regions in the world: Southeast Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Central and South America, with a variety of product lines. By 2024, the Corporation’s main production and business indicators grew remarkably: Revenue reached over 36,000 billion VND; over 1,800 billion VND in profit; 15,600 billion in budget contribution. All these demonstrates a journey full of emotions and challenges, as well as aspiration and courage. With great motivation and pride from the successes and the valuable heritage inherited over four decades of construction and development, the Corporation will look forward to fostering those successes in stages to come. Eventually, Vinataba is commited to successfully complete all tasks and targets assigned by the Government, the Ministry of Finance and competent authorities’’.
